Another long day of NXNE coverage..
I got downtown around 8:00. I took the shuttle from UTM to St.George. Karen, Curran and Devon where in Little Italy for the Taste of Little Italy going on this weekend so I met up with them and snapped some photos. Steel Banana’s resident food expert and critic Ted Killin will be featuring the street festival in our next issue.
Next we walked to the Dakota Tavern, but it was really busy, the line up was around the building. One Hundred Dollars was playing, I had seen them already at The Horse Shoe Tavern for Canadian Music Week so I wasn’t too disappointed. From there we went on to Rancho Relaxo where we saw Cut Throat Britva and Shallow Alps. After that, on to Sneaky Dee’s. We couldn’t get in because Karen forgot her ID. We left to another bar – I can’t remember the name – but they wouldn’t let Karen in either. So from there we went to Karen’s house to pick up her ID, and back to Sneaky Dee’s. I stayed for a few sounds of Mika Miko’s set, then it was back to Mississauga.
I ended up walking from Sneaky Dee’s all the way up Bathurst because I was tired of waiting for a street car. When I got to bloor, my googlemaps on the blackberry told me Christie was the closest subway stop – I realized after 20 minutes of walking, that there was the Bathurst stop was literally 2 minutes from Bathurst/Bloor. Oh well.
Tonight’s photos are on the SB Blog for now.
My shot of the night.
It’s from Mika Miko’s set at Sneaky Dee’s.
