The September Issue.
Steel Bananas – September 2009 went live earlier today. Check it here.
It was a tough issue for me – we published The Medium sunday night and that was a 15 hour work day. The next day I had class until 6pm, and then published Steel Bananas from 7pm until about 2am, then plagued with network problems, continued with the photo editing today at utm after class. We went live at around 2pm ish today.
I didn’t get to shoot as much as I would have liked this issue. Some of my photo ideas fell through, namely one for Sarah Beaudin’s article about female bathroom etiquette. I really wanted to shoot that one, but I couldn’t find any models.
I think I made up for my lack of shooting on this month’s cover though. I covered Fan Expo with King Frankenstein and designed an alternate, retro comic book looking Steel Bananas with a cardboard C3P0 and Darth Vader on the cover. I think it’s pretty bitchin’, but you can judge for yourself.
This month’s issue features a signature Curran Folkers interview with Great Lake Swimmers, Ted Killen does some cheese sluething and a few trendy downtown boutiques, a pomophobic book review by the Chief Lady herself, Karen Correia Da Silva, and an artist spotlight on my fellow Art and Art History-ite, Jessica Vallentin.
I also wrote this month’s Note from the Editor. Give it a read.
