It’s been a busy month—also known as: it’s all about who you know..

The last month has been really busy. I’ve neglected my blog for a while—bad—but I’ve been shooting lots—good—and getting paid for it—even better. My photo business is slowly but surely taking off. I have 2 big clients, and a handful of weddings booked for the next year, so things are looking good. I never thought two months after graduating that things would be looking this good.

In all honesty though, it is really all about who you know. Most of my business has stemmed from one contact. On one hand, it’s great that I was able to spin so much business out of one person, but on another level it says alot about my current situation. If it wasn’t for that one contact, there is no way I would be having this amount of success so soon.

I havn’t really needed to go out there and look for business the last two months, it has found its way to me. Again, this is great, but makes me a little uneasy.

I’m a little nervous about when the work stops coming to me. I’m going to have to go look for it. Fortunately though, I will have a good enough portfolio of paid work that should help. I’m in the process of finalizing my business’ website, and am hoping for an official launch in a few weeks. I’ve been so busy with work that I’ve had to push that back and put Oh Boy’s online social identity on hold for a while, which I feel is unfortunate. I really need to get myself out there so that when things slow down—and I know it will; just being optimistic—I’ll be prepared, and will have a bigger network of contacts to connect with.

That being said, I’ve been pretty hush-hush about my company online, only alluding to its name and not divulging a website or even twitter. We do have them, but I don’t want to launch it until everything is 100% in place. I’ve had to launch partially completed websites before and while they get alot of traffic from the initial launch promotion, their lack of completion and missing content tends to push visitors away.

My schedule is looking pretty clear next week, so I’m giving myself a tentative launch date of 2 weeks from now. Expect lots of online activity—ohboy!
